About the Role: Oakhurst Equine Veterinary Services is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible equine surgeon to join our collaborative and forward-thinking team. This full-time or part-time position is ideal for a surgeon with strong soft tissue and orthopedic experience, including advanced lameness diagnostics and therapeutics. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in developing an equine surgical referral program from the ground up—shaping its standards, scope, and success alongside a supportive, skilled team.

Our Practice:We are a five-doctor equine practice providing comprehensive veterinary care, including:

Advanced lameness and sports medicine

Reproductive services

General and preventative medicine

Internal medicine

Podiatry and dentistry

While we currently refer cases requiring gas anesthesia, colic surgery, and arthroscopy, our vision includes building a fully equipped surgical suite to provide in-house surgical care. The right candidate will help lead this exciting phase of growth.

Location: Oakhurst is located in Newberg, Oregon—nestled in the stunning Willamette Valley wine country, just southwest of Portland. Our clinic sits on a 147-acre Thoroughbred farm, only an hour from the Oregon Coast or Mount Hood and just a few hours from the recreation paradise of Central Oregon. Competitive Salary Range: $100,000–$200,000+, depending on experience and expected caseload. We offer a Pro Sal compensation model with a guaranteed base salary, customized to your qualifications, plus production-based incentives.

Who We’re Looking For:

DVM or equivalent from an accredited institution

Oregon licensure (or ability to obtain)

Board-certified or board-eligible in equine surgery

Background in surgical internships or residencies preferred

Advanced diagnostic and imaging skills

Strong communicator with excellent client-service orientation

Team player who thrives in collaborative settings

Willing to participate in the surgical/emergency on-call rotation

Interest in mentoring early-career veterinarians and students a plus
