This recruitment is being conducted under the Operation Hire Hawaii (OH-HI) project, a targeted outreach initiative featuring an expedited hiring process, fast-tracking qualified applicants into job opportunities throughout Hawai’i.

Salary: $10,428 to $16,688 per month (EM-07, Minimum to Maximum).Note: Hiring rates will be based on availability of funds, the applicant's qualifications, and other relevant factors.

The Engineering Program Manager manages a major engineering branch or district office and performs other duties as assigned. An engineer at this level typically exercises technical and administrative control, through subordinate professional supervisors, over major engineering programs involving large monetary expenditures, or he/she may direct several small groups of engineers engaged in extremely complex projects. The work directed is characterized by unique and complex problems, and a departure from accepted standards or guides;
consequently, an engineer at this level is guided essentially by general overall directives, his/her own analysis and interpretation of broad policies and regulations of higher authority, his knowledge of technological advances, and a broad technical background and experience in an area or areas of specialization.To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:
Legal Authorization to Work:
The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
Professional License:
Applicants must possess a valid State of Hawaii Professional Engineer license at the time of application.

Education Requirement: A bachelor's degree from a school of engineering from an accredited college or university.
Engineering Experience:
Four (4) years of progressively responsible professional engineering which required the knowledge and application of the basic physical and mathematical sciences and the engineering sciences to the solution of theoretical or practical engineering problems (see examples of qualifying professional engineering experience listed in the
Minimum Qualifications ).
Supervisory or Staff Advisory Experience:
A. Supervisory Experience:
Two (2) years of professional engineering experience which included training coordinates, coordinating and assigning workloads, evaluating performance, assisting in difficult and problem areas, and maintaining high standards of work and timely accomplishment of work objectives;
OR
B. Staff Advisory Experience:
Two (2) years of professional engineering experience as technical expert in a specialized area or program function performing staff advisory, consultative and/or reviewing the work of a staff of specialists assigned to such activities as long-range planning, research and/or development of specific projects, programs, etc.
Administrative Aptitude:
Administrative aptitude rather than actual administrative experience may be accepted. This requirement will be considered to have been met when there is strong affirmative evidence of the necessary administrative abilities.
Driver's License:A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment.
