Duties and Responsibilities

* Set up and operate various types of machine tools such as lathes, mills, drill presses, grinders, etc., selecting proper feeds and speeds

* Work from drawings, sketches and verbal instructions to make parts.

* Work to close tolerances

* Makes fixtures for machines

* Use precision measuring instruments to check accuracy of work

* Perform hand operations such as filing, fitting, tapping, etc.

* Perform preventative maintenance lubrication

* Keep work area and equipment clean

* Ensuring the promotion of customer focus throughout the organization.

* And other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

* High School Diploma, or equivalent

* Completed Machinist Apprenticeship program or 3-5 years experience in a machine shop

* Knowledge of precision measuring devices

* The ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints and sketches

* A proven mechanical aptitude

* Advanced shop mathematics skills

* Broad knowledge of machine shop practices

* Ability to trouble-shoot and problem solve

* Strong work ethic and follow through

* Must consistently use safety devices when operating machines

* Attention to detail a must
