Join Metro's Community Education & Stewardship team at Chinook Landing where we will plant the slough area behind the archery range with native wetland plants like sedges and wapato. All tools, supplies and some refreshments provided. Ground may be uneven and wet. Children aged 10 and up are welcome to join with a parent/ guardian present.
Learn how to plant native plants like wapato and sedge. Learn about the importance of sloughs and wetlands. Build community!
Metro believes that connection to land promotes joy and wellbeing and nurtures a sense of belonging, reciprocity and generosity. The nature activities offered by Metro’s community education and stewardship team are designed to be collaborative, safe and welcoming. By participating in this planting you are helping restore the Columbia Slough and the wetland species who call this place home.
Opportunity Requirements:
Volunteers must be10years of age or olderto participate in this opportunity; any volunteerunder age 18 must attend with a parent or adult chaperone.
