Ogle County Court Services is seeking a full-time Adult Probation Officer to provide supervision of justice‑involved individuals while supporting rehabilitation, accountability, and public safety. This role emphasizes structured probation responsibilities, evidence‑based supervision, and supportive engagement.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise individuals on probation, ensuring compliance with court‑ordered conditions.
- Conduct office visits, home visits, and collateral contacts.
- Develop individualized supervision plans using risk/needs assessments.
- Apply motivational interviewing, trauma‑informed, and cognitive‑behavioral strategies to support behavior change.
- Identify barriers (housing, employment, transportation, treatment) and connect clients to community services.
- Monitor compliance with financial obligations, public service, and other court requirements.
- Prepare professional reports and provide court testimony as needed.
- Participate in on‑call rotation per union contract.
- Bachelor's degree (criminal justice, social work, psychology, sociology, or related field preferred).
- Strong written, verbal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage a caseload independently and professionally.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Must meet AOIC hiring eligibility and pre‑employment standards.
- Experience working with justice‑involved adults, probation, parole, corrections, court services, or community‑based supervision programs.
- Background in social work, case management, human services, counseling, behavioral health, or related fields.
- Experience conducting assessments, developing case plans, identifying risk and needs, and connecting individuals to community‑based resources.
- Knowledge of evidence‑based practices including motivational interviewing, trauma‑informed care, cognitive‑behavioral interventions, and behavior change strategies.
- Experience working with individuals impacted by substance use, mental health concerns, housing instability, unemployment, or other barriers to successful community adjustment.
- Training or experience in crisis intervention, de‑escalation techniques, conflict resolution, and managing challenging behaviors.
- Experience preparing professional documentation, court reports, treatment referrals, progress summaries, or presenting information in a legal setting.
- Familiarity with Illinois courts, criminal justice systems, probation practices, or community corrections.
- Bilingual skills or experience working with diverse populations are valued.
- Illinois LCSW, LCPC, or other relevant professional credentials are valued bonuses; however, this position does not involve independent clinical services.
