JOB TITLE: Software Engineer

START DATE: ASAP (Flexible)

DURATION: 6-month contract-to-hire (intention is to convert to permanent FTE hire after 6 months)

WORK HOURS: Full time, 40 hours/week

LOCATION: Hybrid: ~1 day per month on-site in downtown Portland, OR office

TRAVEL: N/A

Our client is a growing technology company that helps financial institutions optimize their commercial loan portfolios through advanced portfolio management, stress testing, analysis, and valuation tools. Their software platform enables customers to meet both management and regulatory needs while providing deeper insights through interactive dashboards and intuitive tooling. This early-stage startup has a strong product in market, a healthy sales funnel, and a collaborative, mission-driven team.

The Software Engineer plays a key role in advancing the company’s software platform. Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, this role designs, builds, and maintains software products that deliver meaningful value to customers. The Software Engineer collaborates closely with teammates to enhance existing features, develop new capabilities, resolve defects, and drive continuous improvement across the engineering organization.

• Build and ship new products and features
• Write clear, maintainable, and scalable code with excellent code hygiene
• Demonstrate a quality mindset by writing and maintaining tests
• Participate in code and design reviews, work item refinement, and team retrospectives
• Contribute to system architecture and technical design decisions
• Work with stakeholders to understand business requirements and objectives
• Contribute to the development and refinement of engineering best practices
• Foster collaboration and innovation across the organization
• Troubleshoot and debug application issues
• Participate in the company’s Information Security Program as required

• 3+ years of experience as a full-time software engineer
• Strong foundation in computer science and OOP fundamentals
• Experience with Looker or similar business intelligence platforms
• Proficiency in automated testing practices
• Experience using AI-driven tools to enhance engineering productivity
• Experience with agile development practices
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

• BS or MS in Computer Science or related field
• Experience with Heroku, Postgres, Git, and AWS
• Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs
• Experience with Dev Ops and CI/CD pipelines
• Work experience related to Financial SaaS products
