Job Summary
Data Center Technician – responsible for maintaining AWS global infrastructure by installing, repairing, and troubleshooting server racks, hardware, networking, and environmental equipment to ensure high availability and performance. Eligible candidates who relocate will receive a lump‑sum relocation stipend.
Key Responsibilities- Install and configure server racks, perform hardware repair and component break‑fix.
- Troubleshoot network issues and respond to operational incidents impacting service availability; escalating to senior technicians and management as needed.
- Serve as primary contact point for internal and external stakeholders – engineers, vendors, contractors, and software developers.
- Perform on‑call duties and participate in scheduled maintenance and change‑management activities.
- Contribute to documentation and process improvement initiatives based on analysis of operational issues.
- Assist in training and onboarding new team members.
- Maintain service level agreements through proactive issue detection and reporting.
- Operate shift work covering days, nights, weekends, and holidays to support 24/7 operations.
- Lift or move up to 40 pounds regularly and participate in group lifts of 41+ pounds.
- Work in cramped and/or elevated locations; bend, lift, stretch, and reach as required.
- Stand and walk for up to 8+ hours a day.
- Ascend and descend ladders, stairs, and gangways safely.
- Operate in a noisy environment.
- Work shifts longer than 8 hours to support 24/7 operations.
- Travel to or commute between data center locations as needed; travel frequency varies by business needs.
- Temporary work at alternative sites during training until the assigned facility becomes fully operational.
- Access to the PDX AWS Gov Cloud region is restricted to U.S. citizens; work must be performed within the United States.
- Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system.
- Experience working in a Data Center environment.
- An associate’s degree, technical certification, or equivalent professional or military experience in a relevant field.
- Understanding of network design, protocols, and layer 1/2 troubleshooting.
- Experience in a data center or other critical environment.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional or military experience in an IT‑related field.
- Industry standard certifications (CompTIA, CCENT, Network+).
- Understanding of Linux or similar operating systems.
- Behavioral interviewing and hiring experience.
- Experience training and onboarding of new team members.
The base salary for this position is $30.00 – $54.00 hourly, located in Boardman, Oregon. Compensation includes sign‑on payments, restricted stock units (RSUs), health insurance, a 401(k) matching plan, paid time off, parent‑leave, and other standard benefits.
