Amazon expects Data Center Technicians to maintain the health of our global cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability of servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment.
Key Job Responsibilities- Install server racks, perform hardware break‑fix on various components, troubleshoot network issues, and respond to operational incidents that impact service availability.
- Carry out routine network, server hardware, and operating system repairs to support overall AWS service availability.
- Act as a primary contact for internal and external stakeholders, including engineers, software developers, vendors, and contractors.
- Participate in on‑call duties and scheduled maintenance and change‑management activities.
- Contribute to documentation and process improvement initiatives based on analysis of operational issues.
- Help interview, train, and onboard new team members.
- Lift and move material up to 40 pounds.
- Work in cramped and/or elevated locations.
- Perform bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching.
- Stand and walk for up to 8+ hours a day.
- Ascend and descend ladders, stairs, and gangways safely.
- Work in an industrial environment and cover shifts longer than 8 hours to support 24/7 operations, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to travel to or commute between data center locations as needed.
- Willingness to temporarily work at alternative sites during training periods or until assigned facility is operational.
- Travel frequency may vary based on business needs and operational status of assigned facility.
- Take ownership of technical issues, engaging other teams to drive resolution.
- Show strong aptitude for troubleshooting and problem solving.
- Resolve problems at their root while understanding the broader context.
- Maintain service level agreements through proactive issue detection and reporting.
- Act bias‑to‑action in the absence of direction or support.
- Improve effectiveness through process innovation.
- Experience in computer networking.
- Experience with computer hardware troubleshooting and repair.
- Can lift and rack equipment up to 40 pounds.
- Can work in cramped spaces or at elevated locations while adhering to health and safety guidelines.
- Experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure.
- Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system.
- Experience with cabling infrastructure best practices and methodologies.
- Experience working in a data center environment (racking and stacking gear, cable management, hot/cold aisle containment).

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.

- USA, OR, Hermiston – $30.00–$54.00 USD hourly
- USA, OR, Umatilla – $30.00–$54.00 USD hourly
- USA, TX, Wink – $30.00–$54.00 USD hourly
- USA, VA, Herndon – $30.00–$54.00 USD hourly
