Manages site Health and Safety programs to ensure the company is providing a safe and accident‑free work environment. Responsible for leading and supporting the development of and implementation of a facility‑wide safety culture through technical support, program development, and relationship building. Implements safety standards using company programs to provide the road map to zero injuries and world‑class performance. Plans and/or delivers programs to train managers and employees in work site safety.
Promotes plant safety by working with all departments to analyze the current situation and recommend improvements. Analyzes accident data to identify trends and accident types that can be prevented. Works with Line teams to proactively improve systems and standards in our safety program.
- Manages all aspects of health and safety programs.
- Promotes an accident‑free work environment by developing programs that routinely train, monitor and assure a safe workplace.
- Plans and delivers programs to train managers and employees in workplace safety practices.
- Assists in accident investigations and prepares accident reports required by regulatory agencies.
- Conducts inspections and audits in plant and at other facilities to detect existing or potential accident hazards and determine corrective or preventive measures.
- Facilitates Shift Safety Committee process by active participation in the subcommittee process and acting as a resource for each group.
- Administers initial workers’ compensation functions.
- Guides and directs plant toward compliance with state, federal and local safety regulations.
- Determines and directs necessary compliance training for all individuals to assure OSHA, TOSHA, and company training requirements.
- Works with engineering team to deliver safe capital work plans and ensure all new equipment meets current safety standards.
- Develops, audits and maintains site Emergency Action Plan.
- Represents Lamb Weston in local LEPC and functions as liaison with local emergency response crews.
- Works in partnership with corporate EHS to understand site losses and develop site plans to improve results.
- Oversees Safety Coordinator and owns overall site security program and works with security contractor to deliver security metrics.
- Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully; develops alternative solutions; works well in group problem‑solving situations; uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from a four‑year university required;
Industrial Hygiene or Safety Management preferred. - Minimum of five years of industrial safety experience; CSP certification preferred.
- Strong PC skills (Microsoft Office applications and Enablon reporting).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience leading teams and building a strong culture of collaboration and trust.
- Thorough understanding of OSHA regulations.
- Ability to interpret state and federal regulations and apply them to ensure compliance.
- Ability to write regulatory reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
- Experience in performing risk assessments and audits.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and deliver accurate conclusions.
- Ability to interpret extensive technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and handle abstract and concrete variables.
- Ability to work off shifts occasionally.
