Operations Manager, EHS / HSE Manager, Healthcare Management
Bailey Nurseries is hiring a Safety Manager to join our west coast team. In this role you will be leading and supporting safety programs across Bailey Nurseries’ horticulture operations in Oregon (Yamhill, Dayton, Sauvie Island) and Washington (Sunnyside). This role partners with the Safety Director, site leadership, HR, and employees to ensure regulatory compliance, reduce workplace injuries, and promote a proactive safety culture.
This role operates in both office and field settings across horticulture and nursery environments, including outdoor and production areas.

We offer competitive compensation of $75,000 - $91,000 based on experience, health, dental, vision, and disability insurance, paid time off and holidays, 401(k) with company match, and much more.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Safety Program Leadership & Compliance
- Lead and maintain safety programs across assigned locations in partnership with the Safety Director
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, ANSI, NIOSH, and other regulations
- Identify gaps, improve safety practices, and support long term injury prevention
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies, including inspections and follow up
Safety Operations & Field Support
- Partner with site leaders to reinforce safe work practices across horticulture operations
- Conduct inspections, identify hazards, and implement corrective actions
- Maintain regular travel to assigned locations, including Washington
Team Leadership & Safety Coordination
- Provide direction and support to the Safety Coordinator
- Ensure safety trainings, documentation, and follow ups are completed accurately and on time
Incident Investigation & Workers’ Compensation
- Lead investigations of incidents and near misses, including root cause analysis
- Implement corrective actions and support workers’ compensation and return to work processes
Training, Communication & Safety Culture
- Lead safety meetings and trainings, including tailgates and committees
- Promote safety awareness and communicate expectations clearly across teams
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in safety, EHS, or operations with safety responsibility
- Strong knowledge of OSHA and safety regulations
- Experience managing safety programs across multiple locations
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work with diverse teams and travel regularly
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in agriculture, nursery, horticulture, or similar environments
- Workers’ compensation and injury management experience
- Bilingual English/Spanish
- Safety certifications such as OSHA 30, CSP, ASP, or CHST
