Archaeologist Museum Specialist

Wage/Hr: $50.00 Hours/Week: 15 Minimum Age: 55

For over 25 years, National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions) has specialized in connecting experienced workers (ages 55+) with full-time and part-time job opportunities that support the critical missions of Federal Agencies across the United States.

NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55+) with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS). These experienced professionals provide administrative, scientific, technical, and operational support to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service through the Experienced Services Program (ESP).

Positions listed here do not guarantee employment for any definite period. Enrollment in the Experienced Worker Programs administered by NEW Solutions is temporary. The enrollment relationship between NEW Solutions and the Enrollee is an ?at-will? relationship. This means that an Enrollee is free to terminate enrollment at any time during the enrollment period, and NEW Solutions and the Agency have the right to terminate the relationship with the Enrollee.

Qualifications

MA/MS Degree in Anthropology/Archaeology

  • Experience with National Historic Preservation Act and related cultural resources laws; experience with working with Museum Collections.
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Teams, MS Outlook, MS SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat

Duties

Assist the Cultural Resource Branch with inventorying, organizing and documenting museum collections and records and upgrading to meet DOI records management and museum management standards. Assist with migrating data from File Maker Pro  and FRED to new systems. Assist with connecting people to volunteer opportunities at local refuges to pursue connecting with outdoor nature and archaeological opportunities (the Big 6 Priority Public Uses) as described in the Refuge Improvement Act of 1997.

  • Museum Collections and Record Management Assist with inventorying, organizing and documenting museum collections and records and upgrading to meet DOI records management and museum management standards.

  • Migration of Data Assist with the migration of paper records into digital format and into File Maker Pro , FRED, or other systems.

  • Volunteer Management Assist with development and coordination of a volunteer program and events connecting people to volunteer opportunities at local refuges to pursue connecting with outdoor nature and archaeological opportunities (the Big 6 Priority Public Uses) as described in the Refuge Improvement Act of 1997.Includes participation in Archaeology Roadshow events, writing volunteer job descriptions, recruitment and administration on Volunteer.gov, interviews, reference checks, volunteer forms, onboarding, training, and retaining volunteers to support resource management, conservation, and visitor education programs and activities as per the Volunteer and Community Partnership Act, P.L. %
  • Monitor and Survey Fieldwork Provide occasional fieldwork assistance monitoring projects, survey and reporting.
