The Fabrication Shop Mechanic builds, maintains, and repairs critical support equipment used in both shop and field operations. This role directly supports safe, efficient flight and maintenance operations by ensuring all ground and mission support equipment is reliable, compliant, and mission‑ready. Support equipment includes, but is not limited to, lower hooks, power packs, fire buckets, longlines, and work stands. The position requires hands‑on metal fabrication, welding, and problem‑solving using a variety of materials, tools, and processes.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:- Build, repair, inspect, and maintain shop and field support equipment to support operational and mission requirements
- Perform GTAW (TIG) welding on steel, aluminum, and stainless steel
- Perform GMAW (MIG) welding on steel, aluminum, and stainless steel
- Utilize SMAW (Stick) welding as needed (beneficial but not required)
- Operate and maintain proficiency with all common metal fabrication tools
- Use a metal lathe as required (skill beneficial but not required)
- Read, interpret, and work from blueprints, sketches, and technical drawings
- Fabricate parts with or without drawings, using experience and judgment
- Communicate directly with internal or external customers to understand requirements, including writing notes or producing sketches to capture job needs
- Apply working knowledge of material types and properties when selecting fabrication methods
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical equipment related to support equipment
- Complete special fabrication projects using metal and plastic materials, applying appropriate welding and fabrication techniques
- Load, unload, stage, and transport support equipment as required
- Perform basic computer tasks including parts lookup and ordering, equipment updates, and blueprint or sketch review
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum 2 years of experience using fabrication and welding tools in a shop or field environment
- Proficiency in TIG and MIG welding on steel, aluminum, and stainless steel
- Experience with general hand tools; personal toolbox required
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and technical data
- Communicate effectively with customers and team members
- Work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
- Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently
- Must conduct oneself in accordance with the Company’s Core Values
- Must meet International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements as a U.S. Person
