Utility Operator
The Utility Operator provides entry‑level work in production departments within the plant in both cheese and cold storage. The position is responsible for keeping the plant areas in a safe, sanitary, and efficient working order. A Utility Operator may be required to cover operators for absences, training, or other job assignments and may be assigned to special tasks as needed.
What you will do:
The Utility Operator assists in the setup, cleaning, and operation of towers, sealers, and boxers, maintains a clean work area following GMP standards, utilizes ERP/NAV interfaces, helps troubleshoot equipment issues, maintains general housekeeping per Make Room MSS, and performs other duties assigned by a supervisor or lead.
Here’s a day in life:
- Assists in the setup, cleaning, and operation of towers, sealers, and boxers.
- Maintain a clean work area and follows GMP standards.
- Use ERP/NAV interface.
- Assist maintenance in troubleshooting problems with equipment.
- Maintain general housekeeping per Make Room MSS.
- Other duties assigned by supervisor/lead.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Dependable, honest, ethical, reliable, responsible.
- 1+ year of food production or manufacturing experience (desired).
- Willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges; set and achieve goals; commit to learning.
- Effective communicator, team player, interacts with all staff levels.
- Able to work a 12‑hour night shift on a rotating schedule with alternate weekends off; holiday shifts required.
Physical Requirements:
- Occasional lifting of supplies using equipment.
- Standing, raising, and lowering up to 45 lb at a height of 55 in.
- Seldom lifting equipment.
- Standing, lifting, and carrying up to 45 lb at waist height for 6 ft.
- Must lift up to 50 lb.
