Employee will work a minimum of 10 hrs per day, 4 days a week with overtime expected. Employee will have 3 10‑minute breaks and 1 30‑minute lunch.

Position
Purpose:
Leading and directing a crew of QC technicians. Includes crew meetings, quality checks, product scheduling, coordinating crew meal periods, lock‑out training, production paperwork, and inventory control.
- Supervise and direct all employees in daily safety, production, quality, and recovery duties.
- Perform necessary quality checks and monitor production key performance indicators, addressing and correcting safety, production, quality, and recovery variances.
- Provide all production employees with daily, weekly, and monthly safety training.
- Schedule log processing and lathe to balance the needs of dryers and lay‑up line with available species and grades of logs.
- Apply root cause analysis and action planning to facilitate continuous improvement.
- Work with maintenance to resolve issues and improve processes.
- Assist the General foreman in employee evaluations.
- Operate all machines and rolling stock safely at production levels.
- Complete administrative duties and recordkeeping as outlined by the plant manager and human resources.
- Maintain all departments at or above SHARP standards.
- Attend and/or assist plant manager with crew meetings.
- Lead KPI (Key Performance Indicators) meetings as needed.
- Cleanup activity during downtime, changeovers, or between shifts (e.g., remove veneer scrap or debris).
- Rotate to different positions for cross‑training or production facilitation.
- Assist co‑workers or maintenance personnel in basic maintenance procedures.
- Operate machinery when fully trained.
- Assist plant manager and supervisors for employee advancement and conduct new employee interviews as needed.
- Assist data administrator with production and quality paperwork accuracy.
- Coordinate and facilitate cleanup during holiday shutdowns and projects as directed.
Inside 90%, outside 10%; temperatures range from 10°F to 105°F. Noise and vibration from machines and forklifts. Hazards per Job Hazard Analysis. Atmospheric conditions include wood fumes and dust limited, water mist, wood particle odor.
Personal protective equipment required: eye protection, hearing protection, rubber or leather gloves when handling dry veneer, approved footwear.
Physical DemandsRequires constant use of hearing and vision, bilateral use of arms and hands, frequent bending, twisting, pushing/pulling, reaching, and occasional lifting >30 lbs. Good body mechanics required.
Skills and Qualifications- Excellent hand‑eye coordination.
- Continuous use of vision/hearing.
- Reading and speaking to comprehend safety training, lock‑out procedures, and daily direction.
- Self‑directed initiative in task completion.
- Ability to prioritize, organize, and make decisions.
- Knowledge of safety training, lock‑out/tag‑out, and proper body mechanics.
- Follow lock‑out/tag‑out procedure before maintenance or handling equipment.
- Maintain proper body mechanics.
- Use appropriate PPE.
- Communicate with co‑workers, e.g., forklift drivers.
- Read/write during safety training.
