Forklift Operator Production Trainee; All Shifts

Position Overview

Forklift Operator Production Trainee (All Shifts) – Boardman, OR – Full Time

• Receive instructions from the warehouse lead and use knowledge of plant and warehouse procedures to carry out assignments, driving a powered industrial truck equipped with lifting devices to lift, stack, tier or move products, equipment or materials.
• Maintain supplies to production and transfer packaged product to cold storage areas.

• Maintain safe work practices and participate in safety programs.
• Know safety rules and regulations for lift truck operation.
• Inspect the lift truck prior to operation and report any deficiencies.
• Operate the truck and lifting apparatus, position forks, lifting platform or other lifting device under, over or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, products or materials and transport the load to the designated area.
• Unload and stack material by raising and lowering the lifting device.
• Apply First In First Out (FIFO) procedures.
• Maintain bulk repacks and report equipment failures and mechanical problems.
• Complete forms accurately and legibly, identifying cases, labels, cuts, colors, catalog numbers, day codes and acceptable case conditions.
• Follow procedures for battery changes.
• Rotate through all positions within the job title and complete any task directed by Warehouse Manager, Warehouse Lead or Team Leaders.
• Perform lock‑out/tag‑out procedures for dock locks, unload and load semi‑trailers, load dock and rail cars, and keep the area clean.
• Stage product, prepare paperwork, scan tickets for loads, and operate “Push Pull” attachment.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work environment and change batteries on the lift truck when required.

• High School Diploma or GED (preferred).
• One month of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Forklift certification required; if not qualified, you will be trained and must meet certification requirements.
• Read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals in English.
• Write routine reports and complete forms in English.
• Speak effectively with other employees in the organization in English.
• Perform basic mathematical operations, and compute rate, ratio and percent (whole numbers, fractions and decimals).
• Apply common sense to carry out detailed but uncomplicated written or oral instructions and handle problems with a few concrete variables in standardized situations; memorize product codes, labels and bulk lot numbers.
• Complete tasks with minimal supervision.
• Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance as required.

• Regularly sit and use hands to handle objects, reach, climb, balance and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
• Exposure to extreme cold in the freezer and extreme heat during summer months.
• Occasional exposure to wet or humid conditions and typically loud noise levels.

Pay Rate or Range: $25.70 per hour (estimate).
