The position requires proficiency in operating all equipment and includes duties such as straightening lumber, marking defects, grading lumber, and providing quality assurance feedback. The employee must be able to obtain a grader certification and possess strong mathematical skills.

• Work fast‑paced processing of lumber and maintain full lugs.
• Examine lumber on a moving belt or chain conveyor and mark defects such as knots, stains, decay, splits, wane, bug holes, mold or defective milling.
• Determine grade and trimming to achieve the highest marketable value.
• Provide timely feedback to planer operators regarding quality and size issues.
• Use sawmill electrical controls proficiently.

• Must be able to obtain a certified lumber grader certification.
• Preference for candidates already certified or with experience in grading lumber.
• Strong mathematical skills.
