Job Description SummaryUnder the direction of the team leader, the palletizer operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and adjusting palletizing equipment to meet production needs and quality standards.
Responsibilities- Maintain safe work practices at all times and participate in safety programs.
- Monitor line-flow rates: regular checks for proper feed of cases through palletizers and for proper feed of pallets through wrapper and manifest.
- Order material (stretch wrap film) from storage as needed.
- Monitor palletizer: check cases for QA standards; adjust palletizer for different stack patterns; supply slip sheets; supply stretch-wrap; ensure proper load force for optimum wrap; maintain pallet supply; rework bad cases at the hand palletizing station.
- Monitor line sanitation: keep floors clean and ensure packaging is clean and food safe.
- Ensure proper container sizing and accuracy of packaging records.
- Record packaging machinery efficiencies, downtime, and fill out reports accurately.
- Ensure complete package quality, including regular checks of seals and codes.
- Troubleshoot equipment operation: identify mechanical/electrical problems and notify proper personnel; operate with minimal waste; rework product as needed; assist in packaging duties if required.
- Instruct packaging laborers and temporary staff to insure efficient operation of the palletizing area.
- Count and identify product and coordinate ticketing accurately.
- Operate terminal keyboard for tickets (inbound/outbound bulk, inbound materials, waste product).
- Prepare and monitor paperwork for bay transfers, rework, blending, waste reports, bulk reports, end of shift reports, and drivers’ logs.
- Coordinate with lab personnel for proper dispositioning of held product; communicate with supervisors, leads, drivers, and tote room attendants as needed.
- Follow detailed instructions; collect all necessary paperwork at end of shift for warehouse filing; understand lot numbers, catalog numbers, blending requirements and their impacts; ensure proper ticketing and coding of all product.
- Set priorities with minimal supervision; give breaks to fellow workers as directed by the supervisor; assist in standard packaging duties such as rework and cleanup; may work in cold temperatures for short periods.
- Train other potential palletizers as needed.
Previous experience is not required but familiarity with recordkeeping, computer usage, lab understanding of quality, and blending impacts is helpful.
Skills & Qualifications- Language: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English; write accurate information on simple forms in English; communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors.
- Mathematical: Ability to perform basic math, units of measure, proportions, and percentages.
- Work Environment: Office area and cold storage; may involve extreme cold, dust, noise, confined spaces, and exposure to forklift fumes; reasonable accommodations available.

Pay Transparency: Lamb Weston provides a reasonable estimate of compensation. Pay Rate or Range: $26.75 per hour. Actual compensation may vary based on location, duties, experience, and other factors.
