2Nd Shift Welder- Tangent

Job Summary

We are looking for skilled Welders and/or Fitters (knowledge of both is a plus) to cut and join metals and other materials at our Tangent, OR facility.

• Perform FCAW (2G) welding. Be able to pass 2G test in FCAW on 1” thick coupon.
• Operate air arc to remove steel (back gouging).
• Grind with a 90° angle grinder.
• Read weld symbols and check weld size using weld‑fillet gauges.
• Heat material to the required temperature using temperature sticks and heating or cutting torches.
• Read and follow pre‑heating and interpass temperature tables.
• Set machines according to procedure charts.
• Use an air chipper to chip slag.
• Use natural‑gas propane heaters to pre‑heat steel.
• Operate a stud welder.
• Follow weld procedures as applied to volts, amps, and wire‑feed speed.
• Heat, straighten, and know when to use pre‑heat to offset distortion.
• Perform other duties as required by management.

Day (M‑F): 6:00 am—4:30 pm

Swing Shift: 4:30 pm—3:00 am

• Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. over shoulder height.
• Be able to read blueprints, weld symbols, and be familiar with weld procedures.
• FCAW (2G) proficiency.
• Familiar with WP1 (manual shielded metal arc welding of carbon steel), WP2 (flux‑core arc welding of carbon steel), and WP3 (flux‑core arc welding with gas shielding of carbon steel).

• Two or more years’ experience in manufacturing in the steel fabrication industry.
• Proficiency in using the software, equipment, machines, tools, and electronic devices needed for the job: air arc, 90° angle grinder, crane, heating torch, cutting torch.
