We are seeking a Pipeline Field Project Construction Manager experienced in pipeline or terminal construction projects within the Illinois, Ohio, or Michigan area.
Position SummaryThe Pipeline Field Project Construction Manager is responsible for the on-site management of construction projects, ensuring that activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications, schedules, budgets, and quality standards. This role serves as the primary liaison between the field team, subcontractors, and project stakeholders, enforcing safety protocols, resolving challenges, and maintaining effective communication throughout the construction process.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee and manage all on-site construction activities to ensure alignment with project plans and timelines.
- Monitor progress, schedule, budget, and quality standards.
- Coordinate daily construction operations, including scheduling subcontractors, equipment, and material deliveries.
- Enforce compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
- Conduct safety meetings, inspections, and audits.
- Ensure all work meets design specifications and contract requirements.
- Verify materials and workmanship through inspections.
- Supervise and provide direction to site personnel.
- Foster a collaborative team environment and address conflicts.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve construction challenges.
- Communicate changes or concerns to project managers and stakeholders.
- Maintain daily logs and prepare progress reports.
- Serve as on-site point of contact for clients, inspectors, and stakeholders.
- Monitor and control project costs.
- Allocate resources efficiently.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering, or equivalent industry certifications.
- 5+ years of construction management experience or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, techniques, and materials.
- Proficiency with construction management software and tools.
- Familiarity with local building codes, regulations, and safety standards (OSHA).
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask, problem-solve, and make decisions under pressure.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites (minimum 75% travel).
- PM certification from PMI is desirable.
- Demonstrated aptitude in engineering, construction, and operations of pipeline, station, and terminal facilities.
- Perform job functions consistently with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
- Maintain punctual attendance and comply with all personnel policies.
- Active construction sites with exposure to weather, noise, and physical demands; occasional evening or weekend work may be required.
- Regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
- Access and work at heights >5 feet; handling mechanical parts, rail equipment, petroleum products; exposure to fumes, airborne particles, vibration, uneven terrain, and high noise.
- Use of Fire Retardant Clothing (FRC) and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Stand, walk, use hands, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as required.
- Effective communication with others required.
- Work in proximity to open water.
- Subject to DOT drug and alcohol regulations.
- Strong commitment to environmental responsibility and regulatory compliance.
