Position Title: Special Education Teacher – School Age

Department: Social Emotional Learning Schools

Location: Meadowlark Academy, St. Helens School District

Reporting To: Principal

Compensation: Licensed Salary Schedule ($56,530.85 - $, annually DOE)

FTE: 1.0

Work Days: 192

• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
• Adapt and modify curriculum materials to meet unique student needs.
• Provide direct instruction to students in various subjects, tailoring methods to individual learning styles.
• Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to ensure inclusive classroom practices.
• Implement instructional programs addressing targeted needs on the IEP.
• Use appropriate behavioral and instructional strategies, materials, and resources to assist students in achieving IEP goals.
• Monitor and track student progress, adjusting teaching strategies as needed.
• Participate in regular progress staffing meetings for identified students.
• Conduct assessments and contribute to development of IEP goals and objectives.
• Foster a positive classroom atmosphere that promotes student engagement and social‑emotional growth.
• Communicate regularly with parents or guardians about student performance and progress.
• Attend professional development sessions to stay current with best practices in special education.
• Perform other job duties as assigned.

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field (Master's preferred).
• Current Oregon Teaching License with Special Education endorsement, or ability to obtain within district timeline.
• Experience developing and implementing Individual Education Plans (IEP).
• Experience educating children with behavioral and emotional disorders.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation with proof of insurance.
• Bilingual or biliteracy skills preferred.
