Position: Special Education Coordinator - 26/27

The Estacada School District is seeking a full-time Special Education Coordinator.

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Director of Student Services, the Special Education Coordinator provides leadership in the development, coordination, and implementation of the district’s on‑site special education programs. This position supports the professional growth and development of special education staff, assists with ensuring compliance with state and federal special education regulations, and promotes inclusive practices across the district.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field required;
    Master’s degree in Special Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field preferred.
  • Valid Oregon Teaching License; ability to maintain licensure with TSPC.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of leadership experience in special education, including leadership responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of special education laws and regulations (e.g., IDEA, Section 504).
  • Experience providing professional development and staff coaching.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written forms.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Program Support and Compliance
    • Assist in developing and maintaining special education programs and related services that are consistent with the district’s mission, vision and values.
    • Provide consultation to staff, families and administrators regarding special education services and student needs.
    • Provide daily building‑level support around special education activities.
    • Assist in ensuring compliance with federal and state special education laws and district procedures.
    • Support coordination and monitoring of out‑of‑district placements.
    • Coordinate early childhood to kindergarten transitions and other critical school‑age transitions.
    • Attend IEP meetings in the role of District Representative, as needed.
    • Assist district testing coordinators in the provision of accommodations for testing.
  • Collaboration and Leadership
    • Collaborate with the Director of Student Services on complicated situations that may require consultation with legal representation.
    • Actively support and implement the district’s continuous improvement and improvement science initiatives, lead SpEd huddles and participate in Leadership Retreats.
    • Collaborate with building administrators and staff to support effective service delivery.
    • Support implementation of district initiatives related to special education and inclusive practices.
    • Exhibit a high degree of professionalism in all elements of this position; maintain positive, supportive and professional demeanor for district initiatives.
  • Professional Development
    • Plan and deliver training to staff on special education practices, compliance and instructional strategies.
    • Assist special education staff in developing and implementing instructional techniques including appropriate strategies, interventions, collaboration, accommodations and modifications to curriculum.
    • Provide coaching and technical assistance to staff to support student outcomes.
    • Assume responsibility for one’s own professional growth and development and awareness of current state and federal legal requirements.
  • Supports additional district and departmental responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Student Services.
Salary, Benefits, Contract
  • $61,130 - $106,521 (prorated for actual days worked and dependent upon verified years of experience and education as shown on official transcripts).
