Compensation: $40.33/hr starting wage. During operations training: $41.49/hr once training is complete (4-5 months): $49.68/hr once state issued boiler license earned: $51.87/hr.

About This Role and You

This position is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of plant processes and equipment. The role requires monitoring and controlling process systems, troubleshooting operational issues, supporting production activities, and maintaining compliance with all safety and environmental standards. Additional responsibilities include assisting with routine maintenance and mechanical support activities, as well as railcar loading and unloading operations to ensure reliable product movement and plant logistics.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Experience in a chemical, manufacturing, refinery, terminal, or other industrial plant environment preferred.
  • Experience operating or supporting industrial process equipment, including pumps, valves, piping systems, tanks, and related plant assets preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to assist in routine maintenance, equipment troubleshooting, and repair activities.
  • Must have or obtain, within the timeframe required by the Collective Bargaining Agreement, a State of Ohio Stationary Engineer's License.
  • Ability to use computers effectively, including Microsoft Office applications, maintenance management systems, and email.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedures, manufacturer literature, diagrams, and schematics.
  • Ability to identify and respond to operational issues while following established operating and safety procedures.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including exposure to radiant heat and cold, while wearing required PPE.
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders, perform physical work within OSHA guidelines, and work safely in industrial environments.

Medical Requirement

Chemtrade is committed to the safety and health of its employees and the public. All employees are required to complete and pass their annually held medical assessments, including but not limited to the Pulmonary Function Test (PFT) and the ability to wear a respirator as a condition of employment

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate plant equipment, including pumps, valves, fans, turbines, furnaces, coolers, absorbing towers, filters, compressors, instrumentation and automation, piping systems, tanks, and associated process equipment to support daily production activities.
  • Monitor and control plant operations, identify abnormal operating conditions, troubleshoot equipment and process issues, and take appropriate corrective actions within established procedures.
  • Perform plant startup, shutdown, line-up, and routine operating activities to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable plant performance.
  • Perform general plant inspections, housekeeping, and upkeep to maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Support maintenance activities by replacing nuts and bolts on pipe flanges ranging from 1" to 48" diameter, assisting with equipment isolation and preparation, and performing general mechanical tasks as assigned.
  • Perform warehouse and tool room organization, inventory support, general housekeeping, fire watch duties, confined space attendant responsibilities, and other assigned plant support functions.
  • Load and unload railcars, connect and disconnect hoses, verify transfer operations, and ensure material handling activities are completed safely and in accordance with plant procedures.
  • Operate forklifts, Track mobile equipment, and other authorized mobile equipment as required.
  • Comply with all plant safety requirements, including Confined Space Entry, Hot Work, Working at Heights, Management of Change (MOC), and other site-specific operating procedures.
  • Participate in emergency response and unplanned outage activities and be available to work scheduled 8-hour and 12 hours shifts with intermittent 14-16 hour shifts when required for operational or maintenance needs.
  • Successfully complete all required medical evaluations, including respirator qualification and annual plant physical requirements, as a condition of employment
