Full-time Veterinary Assistant/Technician - La Pine Animal Hospital
Pet Vet Care Centers' La Pine Animal Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Assistant/Technician to support veterinarians and technicians in daily tasks: cleaning and maintaining equipment, feeding, exercising and grooming patients, preparing and sanitizing surgery suites, restraining and handling patients, and clerical and administrative work.
Position OverviewAs a VA/Tech, you will provide compassionate care for all patients, assist with exams, treatments, medication administration, and various hospital duties.
Key Responsibilities- Provide compassionate care to all patients.
- Greet patients and owners, escort them to the examining room, record weight and vital signs.
- Triage patients, perform physical exams, treatments, and administer medication under LVT direction.
- Calm and soothe anxious patients.
- Assist doctors and technicians with medication administration or patient restraint.
- Perform laboratory tests and take radiographs.
- Operate and maintain hospital equipment such as EKG, fluid pump, syringe pump, scales, anesthetic monitors, etc.
- Fill prescriptions, calculate and administer medications, maintain documentation, and secure controlled drugs.
- Feed patients per the attending doctor or client instructions, record appetites, and report abnormalities.
- Communicate positively with clients to ensure a comfortable experience.
- Educate clients about insurance, wellness, and medication plans.
- Maintain hospital cleanliness: clean equipment, kennels, facilities, handle chemicals safely, and complete laundry.
- Bath and care for overnight patients, ensuring release in clean condition.
- Adhere to safety and wellness regulations.
- Understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
- Maintain accurate medical records.
- Show up for work regularly; full‑time presence is essential.
- Promote hospital products and services and support the organization.
- Respond respectfully and urgently to directions from DVM or LVT.
- Perform additional duties as assigned or in specialty areas (e.g., dentistry, surgery, emergency, radiology).
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Willingness to receive training; experience preferred.
Monday to Friday flexibility, depending on hospital needs, and every other Saturday.
