The Nuclear Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for leading and maintaining PGE's Trojan Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation (ISFSI) Quality Assurance Program (QAP), ensuring compliance with Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regulations, licensing commitments, contractual obligations, and applicable industry standards. This highly specialized role provides independent oversight of quality assurance activities supporting the safe storage of spent nuclear fuel and serves as the organization's subject matter expert on nuclear quality requirements.
The position is responsible for evaluating program effectiveness, conducting audits and assessments, overseeing corrective action processes, and ensuring quality controls are consistently applied across safety-related activities.
As a key regulatory and compliance leader, the Nuclear Quality Assurance Manager provides independent authority and oversight separate from operational, budget, and scheduling pressures. Reporting directly to the Trojan ISFSI Senior Manager with independent access to PGE's Chief Operating Officer, this role ensures the integrity of the Quality Assurance Program while supporting continued compliance with federal licensing commitments. The successful candidate will bring deep nuclear quality assurance expertise, strong auditing and root cause analysis capabilities, and the ability to independently identify, escalate, and resolve quality and safety concerns while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and regulatory excellence.
This position is based at PGE's Trojan Nuclear Facility in Rainier, Oregon, and is expected to align with facility operating schedules and business needs. The role typically follows a four 10-hour day work schedule and requires the flexibility to provide support outside of normal working hours when operational, regulatory, or quality-related issues arise. As a key member of the Trojan leadership team, the Nuclear Quality Assurance Manager is expected to maintain availability for 24/7 consultation and response to significant quality, compliance, or nuclear safety matters, ensuring continued support of NRC licensing commitments and safe spent fuel storage operations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Directs and manages the Trojan ISFSI Quality Assurance Program in accordance with PGE-8010 requirements.
* Assures independent oversight of QAP implementation through QA audit, surveillance and inspection, to verify that the QAP, applicable policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, and applicable codes and standards are effectively implemented.
* Maintains authority and organizational freedom to identify quality problems, recommend solutions, and verify implementation.

* Coordinates and conducts, as necessary, Supplier evaluations including initial qualification via audit, review of third-party audits or accreditations; annual reviews; QA manual approvals; post-award audits, surveillances, source verification and inspections.
* Supports procurement activities, including development and maintenance of the procurement Q-List, reviews and approves procurement documents to ensure incorporation of applicable quality requirements.
