Aerospace FAI/CoC Document Specialist

Job Summary

  • The Aerospace FAI/CoC Document Specialist serves as the final quality gatekeeper for our manufacturing operations, compiling, reviewing, and submitting comprehensive First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR) in strict accordance with AS9102 standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Compile AS9102 FAIRs:
    Author, review, and finalize complete First Article Inspection Report packages, ensuring absolute accuracy across AS9102 Forms 1, 2, and 3.
  • Blueprint Ballooning:
    Interpret complex aerospace engineering drawings and use ballooning software to capture all dimensional tolerances and drawing notes.
  • Traceability Verification:
    Audit manufacturing routers, material test reports (MTRs), mill certifications, and hardware certificates to ensure chain‑of‑custody compliance back to the raw melt source.
  • Special Process Auditing:
    Validate and archive external supplier certifications for NADCAP‑approved processes (heat‑treating, plating, anodizing, NDT).
  • Customer Portal Management:
    Upload quality data packages into aerospace prime portals (e.g., Net‑Inspect) and track submittals to final customer approval.
  • Issue Certificates of Conformance:
    Draft and sign off on company CoCs, certifying that manufactured lots fulfill all contractual and regulatory clauses.
  • QMS Support:
    Assist with internal and external quality audits (AS9100/FAA), identify documentation gaps, and track corrective actions (CARs) when discrepancies arise.
Minimum Qualifications & Skills
  • 1–3 years of dedicated quality documentation or inspection experience within an AS9100‑certified aerospace manufacturing environment.
  • Advanced understanding of engineering drawings, sheet metal/machining specifications, and GD&T.
  • Hands‑on experience with ballooning and inspection software (e.g., Discus, Inspection Xpert) and digital submission tools (e.g., Net‑Inspect).
  • Working knowledge of ITAR and DFARS material compliance standards.
  • Exceptional proofreading and organizational skills, with proven ability to manage multiple high‑priority document packages simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with Epicor ERP, including job traveler management, work order processing, and manufacturing documentation workflows.
  • Ability to interpret Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) reports, assessing measured vs. nominal values and tolerance callouts.
  • Experience with in an AS9100‑registered quality management system, including audit processes, quality objectives, and continual improvement initiatives.
