Fall Creek is creating a world with better blueberries through its friendly,collaborative team spread across the globe. To help us accomplish this, we are seeking a qualified Molecular Research and Diagnostics Temporary Employee.

This position will be located in Lowell, OR.

The Molecular Research and Diagnostics Temporary position is an opportunity to develop the skills and hands‑on experience needed to work in an industry molecular biology research lab. The R&D Molecular Research and Diagnostics employee will work collaboratively by executing and documenting established lab protocols on plant or bacterial samples submitted for pathogen testing.

• Perform DNA and RNA extraction from plant and bacterial samples.
• Quantify DNA and RNA extracts using absorbance or colorimetric assays.
• Use RT-PCR, PCR, qPCR, and gel electrophoresis to analyze DNA and RNA targets.
• Perform protein extractions from plant samples.
• Use a variety of ELISA techniques to measure protein expression.
• Collect and grow bacterial samples using aseptic techniques.
• Collect and analyze data using Excel, Image
  
  J, and other analysis software.
• Keep full records of samples and experiments performed (traceability)
• Accurately enter data and analysis information to an online database.
• Follow company protocols to safely handle and dispose of biological and hazardous materials.
• Present your data to small‑medium sized groups.

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Botany, Microbiology, Biochemistry or related field, or, 2 years of relevant laboratory experience.
• Strong Interest in molecular biology, biology, horticulture, botany or related field.
• Experience with micropipettes is preferred.
  
  Ability to work in, and maintain, a clean laboratory environment using aseptic technique when necessary.
• Experience reading and following lab and experiment protocols (Standard Operating Procedures).
• Use of a microplate reader, with a basic understanding of absorbance and fluorescent based assays.
• In depth knowledge of PCR and RT-PCR, experience running PCR assays is a plus.
• Ability to analyze microplate reader and gel electrophoresis data.
• Ability to thoroughly record and document experiments.
• Experience with the full suite of Office software: most importantly Excel.
• Previous handling of biological or hazardous material a plus.
• Knowledge or use of statistical analysis tools and software a plus.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
