One post-doctoral position is being offered by the Center for Research in Inflammatory Diseases (CRID), one of the Research, Innovation and Dissemination Centers (RIDCs) supported by the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) and hosted by the University of São Paulo Ribeirão Preto Medical School (FMRP-USP) in Ribeirao Preto, São Paulo State, Brazil. The opportunity has funding from FAPESP and is aimed at highly motivated scientists with expertise in organic synthetic and natural products chemistry.
The selected candidate will join a collaboration between CRID and the Brazilian Biosciences National Laboratory (LNBio), affiliated with the Brazilian Center for Research in Energy and Materials (CNPEM) in Campinas. The project is focused on the identification of novel compounds to treat inflammation; activities will be performed in Campinas.
- Join a collaboration between CRID and the Brazilian Biosciences National Laboratory (LNBio).
- Take part in two stages of the project, being responsible for the synthesis of fluorescent probes – the key tool for executing high-throughput screening assays.
- Perform, purify, and structurally elucidate identified bioactive natural products and/or synthetic derivatives.
- Must have a Ph.D. in organic chemistry.
- Experience in solid-phase peptide synthesis and/or fluorescent probe synthesis.
- Knowledge of chromatographic and spectroscopic methods (LC-MS/MS and NMR) of natural products.
- Good oral and written communication skills in English.
- Position is for 24 months.
FAPESP Post-Doctoral fellowship: R $ 7,373.10/month. Research contingency fund equivalent to 15% of the annual fellowship value.
