Visitor Center – Cafe Associate (Full-time)

What you will do:The Café Associate will provide fast, friendly service to guests in the café or ice cream areas of the Visitors’ Center.
They will be assigned to work as a Café Cashier, Café Dishwasher, or Café Busser.
They may rotate through the different positions as needed. This person is a courteous, helpful, enthusiastic individual with extraordinary guest service skills ready to assist guests in our fast-paced Tillamook Creamery Visitor Cafe. The Café Associate maintains Tillamook’s Shared Values, creating a world-class guest experience to the one million guests that visit annually.
CAFÉ CASHIER
- Carry orders out to customers in dining area, projecting a pleasant and professional manner.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge on all café menu items and to answer customer questions.
- Keep floors clean and free of debris.
Check fountain area.
Keep work area sanitary. - Clean all shelving and service areas behind counters daily.
Maintain high level of cleanliness and organization in the café at all times. - Stock set-up areas behind counters daily and replenish supplies as needed.
- Perform opening/closing procedures when scheduled for that shift.
- Serve customers by taking orders on POS system.
Take customer payment, make change correctly and maintain an accurate cash drawer. - Assist the cooks in the kitchen with prep, set up, stocking and any other chores needed in preparing customer’s orders.
- Perform daily dish room opening procedures; turn on fan and dishwasher, fill water, set up dish cart, check chemical levels, etc.
- Maintain three-level busing: tables, chairs and floors; clean and sanitize tables; maintain a frequent presence in the dining room.
- Wash dishes left on tables, operate dishwasher safely—as per instructions—and hand wash all service ware and cookware.
- Maintain cleanliness at fountain station.
- Sweep and mop up any spills or messes on floor; keep floor free of hazards.
- Perform closing list procedures, including but not limited to turning off dishwasher, cleaning and sanitizing entire dish room, checking chemical levels, sorting clean service ware for next day, etc.
- Bus tables and straighten tables and chairs.
Keep floors clean and free of debris.
Check fountain and coffee stations.
Keep work area sanitary. - Maintain three-level busing: tables, chairs and floors; clean and sanitize tables; maintain a frequent presence in the dining room and front entrance of Visitors Center.
Picking up garbage, wiping down picnic tables. - Perform opening/closing duties and side work (i.e.: restocking of soup cups, ramekins, rolled silverware, etc.)
- Keep front-of-house work areas sanitary
- Keep dining hall stocked with lids, straws, to-go containers, napkins, condiments
- Keep dining hall soda fountain cleaned and maintained. Wipe down stainless-steel counters and black cupboards.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, supervisors and the general public.
- Communicate effectively.
- Utilize a computer (POS system)
- Act as a team player and be able to interact with staff at all levels of the company.
- Possess strong customer service skills.
- Follow written or verbal instruction.
- Read, write, speak and understand English.
- Compute basic arithmetic.
- High school diploma or GED is preferred
- Minimum 1 year of experience with commercial food preparation and equipment preferred
- Must obtain food handlers card within 30 days of hire
- Obtain an OLCC (18+ years of age)
- Standing and/or walking
- Lifting 25 lbs.
- Vision for machine or computer operations
