Convenience Store Assistant Manager
Cain Petroleum is looking to hire a Convenience Store Assistant Manager.
This position is responsible for overseeing and managing the daily operations of a retail convenience store by performing the following duties.
- Must be at least 18.
- Must have at least 2 years of experience as an assistant manager or supervisor.
- Retail customer service is preferred.
- Must be available on Saturdays and Sundays to work approximately 5:45 am – 2:15 pm.
- Weekends required.
- Perform all opening duties, including collecting all reports and completing daily paperwork.
- Input and scan all daily paperwork into the back‑office system.
- Assist the store manager with shift coverage.
- Greet customers, answer questions, and provide prompt, courteous service.
- Handle all payment transactions, including cash, dispensing change, and running credit card payments while maintaining an accurate cash drawer.
- Record opening and closing coin, lottery tickets, and print all reports for the shift.
- Activate pumps outside with credit cards and fill the customer fuel tank with the correct grade and amount, providing receipts of sale.
- Perform all closing duties, including posting Veeder root, setting the alarm, and securing the building (may not be applicable at all stations).
- Prepare hot food while maintaining all food safety standards.
- Dispense lottery tickets.
- Verify age of customer when purchasing alcohol, cigarettes, or lottery.
- Maintain and restock supplies and store inventory.
- Complete assigned cleaning responsibilities.
- Report any suspicious activity to the direct supervisor and authorities if needed.
- Maintain punctual, regular, and predictable attendance.
- Work collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.
- Respectfully take direction from supervisor or district coordinator.
- Maintain Chevron Customer First Standards.
- Close the store when needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
This position has no supervisory responsibility.
QualificationsAbility to perform essential job duties with or without reasonable accommodation and without posing a direct threat to safety or health of employee or others.
Education & ExperienceOne year of related experience and/or training in management, assistant management, or supervisory role is required.
Certificates, Licenses and/or RegistrationsThis position does not require any certificates, licenses, or registrations.
Travel RequirementThis position requires minimal local travel with no overnight stays.
Language Skills- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Advanced basic computer job skills, including logging on to systems, communicating by email, composing documents, entering database information, creating presentations, downloading forms, and preserving/backing up important data.
Reasoning Ability- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Frequent lifting and/or moving of up to 10 pounds and regular lifting and/or moving of up to 25 pounds. Required activities include standing, walking, sitting, typing or dialing, reaching with hands and arms, talking or hearing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling. Occasional exposure to wet or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, and extreme cold.
Noise level is usually moderate.
