Job Description

SITECH Oregon is seeking a Sales Engineer – Construction Products based at our Aurora, OR location.

SUMMARY

Primary responsibility for client relationships and Construction Product sales in the assigned territory. Maintains close liaison and frequent communications with customers, and works to develop new business. Coordinates and cooperates with several departments to accomplish job requirements.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Identify new SITECH customers and represent our product line to them by making face‑to‑face presentations.
  • Contact potential customers by telephone when face‑to‑face is not practical.
  • Build and cultivate relationships with both new and existing SITECH accounts.
  • Call on all assigned accounts at least twice each year.
  • Present sales literature, brochures, and inform customers of new product developments and improvements.
  • Identify and call on the decision‑maker in the customer’s company.
  • Correspond with customers in writing as follow‑up of contact when appropriate.
  • Recognize and develop new prospects in the territory.
  • Achieve a high level of market penetration with acceptable profit levels as determined by management.
  • Network with other Peterson sales representatives, product support sales representatives and other employees from Peterson’s divisions to share leads for all company products and services.
  • Present equipment features and benefits to customers in person, and determine additional information needed to meet the customer’s specific needs.
  • Provide written product quotes that include cost benefits and comparison with competition.
  • Coordinate and attend delivery of each new or used system sold.
  • Follow up with customer after sale to ensure machine acceptance and satisfaction.
  • Accurately forecast sales volumes on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Work with Peterson sales team to represent technology products to CAT/Peterson customers.
  • Maintain all sales activity in CRM (currently using Sales Force).
  • Promptly report all sales to ensure timely billing (report in Sales Force as Closed/Won).
  • Maintain strong knowledge of product line and local applications.
  • Deliver products to customers and train them on integrating our products with their operations.
  • Proceed methodically, handling objections, problem solving, and obtaining a thorough understanding of the customer’s needs until the sale is consummated.
  • Prepare and present effective sales proposals to customers and prospects.
  • Develop accurate pricing on Trimble Ag Systems and add‑ons for customer proposals.
  • Communicate with credit department to arrive at acceptable terms of financial conditions to consummate the sale prior to presentation to the customer.
  • Travel up to 50% local and regional, and up to 20% overnight.
  • Operate company or personal vehicle as needed.
  • Maintain punctual, regular, and predictable attendance.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s Degree from a fully accredited college, and at least one (1) year of directly related experience and/or training in Field Construction; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with laser levels, grade rods (regardless of brand), other survey instruments and accessories.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with basic construction operations and site layouts.
  • Good understanding of construction industry, equipment, and customers is highly preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • A drug screen and background check is required.
