The Camp Maintenance Technician is an essential community member of passionate educators and learners. To support a positive work and education environment, the Camp Maintenance Technician, working under the direction of the Hancock Field Station Manager, provides effective care, repair, and maintenance of camp buildings, grounds, and equipment at Hancock Field Station outside Fossil, Oregon.

A successful incumbent recognizes, mitigates, and responds to hazards to ensure a healthy and safe program for all participants and provides general maintenance, including but not limited to carpentry, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and gas /electric appliances and systems for all camp buildings including staff housing. Candidates must have, but not limited to:

* Strong mechanical aptitude;

* Understanding of electrical, mechanical, and/or PPE procedures;

* Understanding of mechanical and/or electrical order of operations;

* Familiarity with OSHA compliance and safety protocols;

* Ability to read and understand manual contents and electrical diagrams as-built drawings;

* Understanding of electrical safety, including comfort with troubleshooting electrical components;

* Familiarity with shop tools, such as table saws, miter saws, circular saws, drill presses, and other similar tools and equipment.

* 2 years of experience-with increasing responsibility-with the following:

* Foundational knowledge and experience working in a commercial or industrial setting, with an emphasis on electrical, plumbing, site improvements, and preventative maintenance;

* Demonstrated experience working independently and safely with mechanical systems;

* Familiarity with gas-based appliances;

* Familiarity with HVAC systems;

* Familiarity with basic vehicle maintenance;

* Prior experience creating and updating maintenance and safety records in a shareable digital format.

Additionally, incumbents must:

* Pass pre-employment checks, such as criminal background checks (may require fingerprinting background checks based on school district requirements), reference checks, and American Camp Association (ACA) background checks (& on an annual basis);

* Have a valid driver's license, including meeting OMSI's driving standards, which requires completing a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check;

* Have (or have the ability to maintain) a Small Water Systems Operator certification (compliance with National Park Service General Agreement of the National Monument).

This position requires working onsite at the camp location in Fossil, OR, working on some weekends, holidays, and/or evenings, and requires 24-hour on-call duties for critical systems.
