Position: Mobile Diesel Mechanic II, $2500 New Hire Bonus
Location: Cape Meares

Position Overview

Mobile Diesel Technician Level II – DOT Management Level Individual Contributor. Must live in the specified city, state or region. 100% travel required. Variable work shift. Hourly pay ranges from $26.73 to $40.10, potentially augmented by commissions and incentive programs. New‑hire bonus of $2,500 paid 50% after 30 days and 50% after 180 days.

Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (“PM”), DOT inspections and follow‑up repairs on light, medium and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
  • Perform minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment, including electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters, alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions, clutches and differentials.
  • Diagnose, adjust and repair truck equipment using diagnostic tools.
  • Inspect, test and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions with handheld computers and pressure gauges.
  • Road test vehicles to confirm proper operation.
  • Identify problems, evaluate alternatives using sound judgment.
  • Manage parts inventory and reconcile equipment on the company‑issued service truck.
  • Maintain and operate the service vehicle, performing safety checks and pre‑/post‑trip inspections.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and customers, addressing needs and resolving issues.
  • Prioritize concurrent tasks and allocate time efficiently.
  • Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts and jacks.
  • Document work, upload photos and details on Repair Orders (“RO”) via company iOS device and TRAIT application.
  • Complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely manner.
  • Operate independently, managing own daily schedule while maintaining productivity.
  • Source parts from approved vendors as needed.
  • Communicate with management for repair estimates and approvals.
  • Perform all work in compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT and company safety, health and environmental policies.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED with at least 3 years of related experience; alternatively a degree or certification and 5 years of experience may be acceptable.
  • Must possess and supply a working set of hand tools required for the role.
  • Must obtain ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months of hire.
  • Candidate must complete DOT‑regulated background screening and DOT physical; a DOT medical card valid for more than 4 months may be accepted in lieu of a physical.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Valid driver’s license for the state of residence; must be able to obtain and maintain a Driver Qualification File.
  • Safe driving record required.
Certifications
  • ASE T8 (PMI) certification required within 18 months.
  • Preferred certifications: ASE T3 (Drivetrain), ASE T4 (Brakes), ASE T5 (Suspension), ASE T6 (Electrical and Electronic Systems), ASE T7 (HVAC), ASE 608/609.
