Field Technician III
Instant opening for a Field Technician III in the telecommunications field. The Technician will work independently, apply advanced principles, and perform installation, acceptance, and maintenance of transport equipment, signaling, private line and data services, CSU/DSU and CPE. Responsibilities include managing outside‑plant network, metro and long‑haul fiber, and making unreviewed decisions as needed.
Responsibilities- Troubleshoot network equipment, remove/replaces defective equipment, and restore network integrity.
- Install, change, decommission, and test transport, Ethernet, SONET, and IP network layers and customer equipment (CPE).
- Use industry‑standard software and hardware to locate, mark, and protect underground outside‑plant facilities.
- Maintain AC power (limited basis) and DC power installs including tertiary and BDCBB.
- Manage Large Netbuild, vendor relations, and purchase orders.
- Oversee asset management, on‑site materials replenishment, shipping, and receiving of company and customer materials.
- Perform level‑1 preventive scheduled maintenance and inspections on network and critical infrastructure equipment such as HVAC, high‑voltage electrical systems, and DC power plants.
- 5+ years of technician experience in a telecommunications/data center environment.
- Master knowledge of standard telecommunication technologies including transmission, switching, and TCP/IP.
- Strong technical and mechanical background with experience in transport gear, HVAC, high‑voltage systems, DC power plants, and fiber optic cable location.
- Ability to work safely outdoors in all weather conditions and hazardous environments.
- Follow all personal safety policies and procedures.
- Valid state vehicle operator’s license and satisfactory driving record; compliance with company vehicle policies.
- On‑call 24x7 on a rotational basis, including stand‑by, call‑out, dispatch, and overtime.
- Experience installing, decommissioning, and troubleshooting next‑generation and legacy network equipment and circuits.
- Perform underground fiber optic cable location without error.
- Proactively monitor systems for preventive and demand maintenance.
This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary by location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.
Location Based Pay Ranges:
$67,875 - $90,500 in these states: OR.
