Position: Mobile Diesel Mechanic II Mon- Fri 6am to 2pm
Location: Cape Meares

Position Summary

Mobile Diesel Technician Level II – DOT Management Level Individual Contributor. Works a flexible 6:00am to 2:00pm shift Monday–Friday. Must reside in the specified city, state, or region but can work remotely otherwise. This role performs licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, light and follow‑up repairs, diagnostics, and other duties assigned.

Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
  • Perform minor adjustment and repairs on truck equipment (electrical/brake/cooling systems, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials, etc.).
  • Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck equipment including electrical/brake/cooling systems, air conditioning systems, and similar components.
  • Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.
  • Road‑test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and confirm proper operation.
  • Identify problems, determine relevance of information, and generate and evaluate alternatives using sound judgment.
  • Independently manage parts inventory and equipment on the company‑issued service truck, performing periodic reconciliation.
  • Maintain and operate the company‑issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and pre‑/post‑trip inspections.
  • Work with and listen effectively to clients and customers to assess needs, provide information or assistance, and resolve problems.
  • Manage concurrent assigned tasks, prioritizing work activities and time allocations.
  • Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
  • Document according to company standards, upload pictures and parts used to Repair Orders (RO) via the company‑issued iOS device and TRAIT application.
  • Accurately complete DOT forms and all other required documentation in a timely fashion.
  • Work independently, manage daily schedule, maintain high productivity, and meet standard repair times.
  • Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as necessary, and communicate with management for repair estimates and approvals.
  • Perform all work in compliance with organizational safety, health, and environmental policies, OSHA, EPA, and federal regulations.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED and 3years of experience in a related field (alternatively any level degree/certification beyond HS and 5years experience).
  • Possess a set of hand tools required for job duties.
  • Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within 18months.
  • Must successfully complete a DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical (or submit a DOT medical card with >4months remaining).
  • At least 21years of age, valid driver’s license, and the ability to maintain a Driver Qualification File.
  • Safe driving record required.
Required Certifications
  • ASE T8 (PMI) – required within 18months.
  • Preferred: ASE T3 (Drivetrain), ASE T4 (Brakes), ASE T5 (Suspension), ASE T6 (Electrical & Electronic Systems), ASE T7 (HVAC), and ASE 608/609.

Compensation

Hourly base pay ranges from $26.73 to $40.10, varying by location and candidate qualifications. Potential additional compensation includes commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and incentive programs.
