SCOPE OF POSITIONThe Summer Program Assistant supports the Mission of The Salvation Army by providing spiritual, administrative, and programmatic leadership at Camp Kuratli. Under the supervision of the Camp Director and in collaboration with the Divisional Youth and Candidates’ Secretary (DYCS), the Summer Program Assistant is responsible for overseeing the development and delivery of high-quality programs, managing seasonal staff, and ensuring that all activities align with biblical values, safety standards, and the goals of The Salvation Army.
EducationAnd Work Experience
- Minimum High School Graduate or equivalent required.
- Prior leadership experience preferred.
- Have a valid Driver’s License.
- At least 2 seasons of summer camp experience or 1 year in equivalent youth work experience required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Capable of obtaining Oregon Food Handlers card.
- Capable of obtaining AED, Red Cross or equivalent CPR and First Aid certification.

- Ability to diffuse stressful situations with staff and campers.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and be comfortable working with a high degree of independence.
- Possess leadership skills, with the ability to supervise, care for, and provide necessary guidance for staff and campers 24 hours a day.
- Possess leadership skills, with the ability to plan, organize, and execute programs.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain poise under pressure.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate well in the English language.
- Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards at all times.
- Foster and nurture Christian faith and discipleship in visible, fruitful ways to, and with staff and campers.
- Provide supervision, support, and motivation to all staff.
- Lead a weekly devotion with staff assigned to your care.
- Coordinate with the Nurse and leadership team for possible medical transportation as needed. May be asked to drive or accompany hospital transport of campers or staff.
- Turn in all camper-related forms promptly, such as, but not limited to, seeker forms, incident forms, safety reports, and Notice of Concern.
- Provide a written weekly evaluation of staff under your care, outlining their strengths and struggles, to the Program Director.
