Home Help Responsibilities

Home help contributes to keeping elderly, disabled, sick, or otherwise challenged individuals  provides assistance to the person in their living environment for daily life tasks, as well as help with home maintenance, and psychological and social support. The home help will therefore be responsible for:

• Accompanying and assisting individuals in daily life (shopping, dressing, bathing, etc.)
• Helping with the arrangement and maintenance of the living environment (cleaning)
• Supporting the maintenance of social and relational life (travel, walks, leisure activities, etc.)
• Participating in the prevention of abuse of vulnerable individuals
• Diagnosing emergency situations, formulating and transmitting proposals
• Assisting with administrative procedures: payment of water, telephone, electricity bills, etc.

A diploma or training in the relevant field is desirable:
Social Life Assistant, CAP Career in Health and Social Services, etc.;

At least two years of experience in personal services for the elderly is required;

A B permit and a personal vehicle are strongly desired;

Knowledge is necessary about the main pathologies of the elderly, public or private institutions that support this target group, etc.;

Knowledge of Creole would be an advantage;

The candidate must be able to perform household tasks (maintaining linen, housing, etc.), do shopping, prepare traditional Creole meals, etc.;

The candidate can also assist in administrative procedures and help maintain relationships, leisure activities, etc.;

Basic skills in using computer tools can be an advantage as well;

The candidate must be able to show benevolence (listening, patience, etc.), vigilance (health status of the beneficiary, situation of abuse), and discretion (respect for private life, etc.).

Art. L332-8 provision 2 of the General Code of Public Service - A contractual employee may be recruited for this position for the needs of the services or by the nature of the functions when no application from a civil servant has been made. The proposed contract may not exceed three years, renewable up to a maximum duration of six years.
