Bilingual Spanish Certified Recovery Mentor
Marion County Addiction Treatment Services is seeking a compassionate and dependable Bilingual Spanish Certified Recovery Mentor to support parenting fathers and their children in the His Place program in Woodburn. This position uses lived experience and bilingual skills to build trust, promote treatment engagement, strengthen parenting and life skills, connect families with community resources, and support long-term recovery. The ideal candidate will provide culturally responsive, trauma-informed peer support while collaborating with treatment providers, Child Welfare, legal systems, and community partners to help fathers achieve stability and create healthier futures for their families.
General statement of duties include:
Assist and support persons served in county addiction treatment programs in accessing community health and social services; refer persons served to appropriate resources; advocate to obtain required services as necessary; provide information and education on wellness-related issues. Work under the general direction of a clinical supervisor or designee who assigns work, establishes goals and reviews the results obtained for overall effectiveness.
Supervision and lead work are not responsibilities of this classification.
Typical duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Builds rapport with people served. Identifies the needs of people served and their families; conducts outreach to engage people who would benefit from addiction treatment services and supports; applies crisis prevention, management, and de-escalation skills.
- Assists in removing barriers to success; assists in transporting persons served to medical appointments, food pantry sites, shelter assistance, benefits programs, etc.; creates and maintains positive relationships with community partners; advocates on behalf of people served and in support of resource development.
- Renders mentoring services and supports both in the office and in community settings necessary to deliver addiction counseling services and supports; works within a team; collaborates with coworkers and community partners; assists persons served in accessing the resources they need to recover from substance abuse problems; provides case management and care coordination services; assists in making timely referrals to other professionals, agencies, community programs, or appropriate resources;
evaluates outcome of referrals. - Provides peer-facilitated Life Skills and Recovery Skills groups for all clients served.
- Other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
- In the event of an emergency, employee makes a reasonable effort to report to work. Employee may be required to perform duties outside of their regularly assigned duties. Employee may be requested to work an extended or flexible schedule. Staff at this response level must complete Incident Command System 100 and 700 on-line or in-person training.
Requirements for the position include:
- High school diploma, or equivalent; AND two years in recovery from substance use dependence.
- Must possess or obtain within ninety (90) days of hire, a current MHACBO (Mental Health & Addiction Certification Board of Oregon) CRM certification (Certified Recovery Mentor). See MHACBO website for requirements.
- Fluent bilingual Spanish/English skills are required. An additional 5% will be added to the hourly wage as compensation for this skill. Finalist will be required to pass a verbal Standardized Spanish/English Fluency Assessment as part of the hiring process.
- Must possess a current driver's license in the applicant's state of residence and an acceptable driving history.
- The finalist for this position will be required to pass a criminal history background check; however, conviction of a crime may not necessarily disqualify an individual for this position.
- This is a safety sensitive/special needs position. Final candidates selected for this position will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen, including testing for marijuana.
- This position may be subject to the following:
Must not be excluded from participation in the federal health care programs (Medicaid, Medicare and other federally funded programs that provide health benefits); AND must not be excluded from participating in federal procurement (Federal Acquisition Regulation) and non-procurement activities (Executive Order No. 12549). - This assignment is represented by a union.
- This is a full-time position, which is eligible for overtime.
- Typical Work Schedule(s):
Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m.
- 5:00 p.m. with flexibility depending upon the needs of the department and program.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities include:
Knowledge and understanding of general concepts of substance use disorders and mental health issues of persons served dealing with addictions; knowledge of family dynamics and individual and group counseling principles; knowledge of community resources.
