The Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) Site Assistant is located at one of three permanent supportive housing programs that provide affordable and stable housing to people experiencing chronic homelessness. Your main responsibilities will be to provide direct support to sheltering services for residents of the PSH Project that promotes long-term housing stability. This team offers a lot of growth opportunities and professional development through hands-on experience.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, one year of related work experience, and preferences given to applicants who have experience working with people experiencing homelessness or the at-risk of becoming homeless; and/or work experience with the public in a healthcare or community services setting.

Candidates must pass a comprehensive background screening, obtain Basic Life Support/First Aid Certification within the first 30 days of hire, and pass pre-employment and random drug/alcohol screenings. Demonstrated proficiencies in Microsoft Office, videoconferencing platforms, and web tools are preferred.

This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Employee will also perform other reasonably related business duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required. This includes performing cleaning, janitorial, and laundry tasks in support of day-to-day sheltering operations, assisting residents by answering questions and referring to appropriate program staff, assisting with program operations including for clients, follow-up with clients, assisting clients with navigation to resources, general data entry, and other special projects as needed.

Other duties include using de-escalation techniques and trauma-informed care principles while performing tasks, assisting other staff in providing a calm and safe environment for residents to thrive, attending required training and remaining up to date on policies and procedures for Supportive Services Operations as needed, supporting nutrition staff by completing various kitchen tasks, including cooking meals, participating in community outreach to local organizations, camps, and groups as directed by supervisor, maintaining appropriate boundaries with clients and coworkers at all times, and complying with MWVCAA safety and personnel policies, including punctuality and attendance.

Consistent punctuality and reliable attendance are essential requirements for this role. Ability to work effectively and maintain positive, professional relationships with team members and clients is also required.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities. This includes the ability to communicate with others and respond to potential emergencies, regularly lift up to 25 pounds; occasionally lift up to 50 pounds, manual dexterity for handling personal items and use of computers and written in-take processing, incidental driving tasks may be requested for employees with a personal vehicle and proof of current auto insurance, ability to remain alert, often late at night or early morning, maintaining calm disposition when clients or others may become escalated, applying crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques for all participants, regulating emotions during interactions with escalated clients and staff, and handling pressures of frequent demands for attention, time and work tasks.

This position requires working in indoor and outdoor environments in cold weather, heat and other extreme climate events, close quarters with a public client population experiencing homelessness, substance use disorders, and/or severe and persistent mental illness, and/or unpredictable behavior, frequent interruptions and demands; frequent noise, and ability to work variable shifts outside of normal business hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
