Who We Are:
Since 1938, generations of campers have come to experience the joy and beauty of Camp Silver Creek. Located deep inside Oregon's Silver Falls State Park, historic Camp Silver Creek is a magical place for children and adults alike. Towering evergreens and a stream flow through the camp’s four units. In the center of camp, a beautiful field is perfect for field games and the lake welcomes boaters, fishermen, and even the early morning polar bear swimmers.

The Role:
The Waterfront Director is directly responsible for the safety and operations of all staff and campers regarding the lake and any aquatic activities. Specific job functions include managing, scheduling, and evaluating lifeguards, maintaining waterfront facilities and supplies, and assessing aquatic safety risks.
Responsibilities- Supervise and evaluate all lifeguards, conducting regular assessments throughout the summer.
- Lifeguard at the pool or the pond as needed.
- Monitor the waterfront and pool areas to ensure all equipment meets ACA standards.
- Ensure all lifeguards adhere to ACA safety protocols and established camp safety regulations.
- Collaborate with the Program Director to schedule and implement all aquatic programming, including swimming, boating, fishing, and lake jumps.
- Conduct ongoing observations of staff, assessing their adherence to safety regulations, quality of instruction, and ability to identify and manage environmental and aquatic hazards.
- Assess the safety of all aquatic programs and maintain records of any safety actions taken.
- Lead and facilitate regular in-service training for lifeguards.
- Conduct swim checks for all staff and campers.
- Manage all aquatics program supplies, including maintaining functionality and informing leadership of any necessary replenishments.
- Serve as a role model for positive camp behavior for both staff and campers.
- Ensure the health, welfare, and safety of all campers under supervision.
- Maintain a safe environment for all participants by enforcing safety ratios and procedures.
- Oversee the maintenance of the pool (when applicable), lake, and surrounding areas.
- Communicate with the supervisor regarding all program needs.
- Provide coverage for cabin groups as needed.
- Assist with facilitating Dining Hall operations before, during, and after meals.
- Participates in required mid-season leadership planning and training sessions to support program quality, staff alignment, and end-of-season readiness.

QualificationsEntry Requirements
- At least 18 years of age
- Two years of college or equivalent experience in camping or aquatics work preferred.
- Must hold a Red Cross Lifeguard Certification
- Previous supervisor experience or training of at least six weeks in a management or supervisory position at a similar aquatic area within the past three years OR have completed aquatics management or supervisory training from a nationally recognized aquatics organization within the past three years
