Job Description

School odl driver / custodian – Starting date: immediately.
Location: Brothers Elementary School.
Hours & days: 40 hours per week;
Bus driver: 149 days per school year;
Custodian: 260 days per year.
Salary: Custodian $17.97–$22.72 per hour; ODL driver $19.22–$24.41 per hour.

ODL Driver

Job Title: ODL Driver
Work Days: As assigned
Reports to: Transportation Supervisor
FLSA Status: Classified – Non‑Exempt

Job Summary: Safely and efficiently transport students in a type 10 passenger vehicle along a designated route.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate type 10 vehicles in all weather conditions to transport individual or small groups of students.
  • Conduct a daily pre‑ and post‑trip inspection as prescribed by the Oregon Department of Education.
  • Report mechanical difficulties according to department procedure.
  • Complete assigned forms and reports in a timely manner.
  • Maintain the vehicle to provide a safe and clean atmosphere, inside and out.
  • Maintain discipline in the vehicle and report discipline challenges to appropriate staff; attend student‑parent meetings regarding transportation discipline challenges, as required.
  • Interact professionally and courteously with students, parents, and school personnel from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
  • Contact appropriate emergency personnel, administer first aid to passengers as needed and prepare accident and incident reports as needed.
  • Attend department meetings as scheduled.
  • Maintain appropriate licenses, certifications, and training hours as required.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of employment.
  • Possession of a valid Oregon Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain a Type 10 certificate from the Oregon Department of Education within two weeks of hire. The district will provide training.
  • Ability to obtain ODE Fingerprint/Background clearance.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to operate a type 10 vehicle in a safe and lawful manner during varying weather, road, and traffic conditions.
  • Adhere to the federal requirements of a drug‑free workplace.

  • Possess the ability to sit for extended periods of time and perform regular climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, walking, and crouching.
  • Frequent talking, hearing, reaching, and use of hands for fine manipulation.
  • Possess ability to exert force to 50–100 pounds occasionally and 25–50 pounds of force frequently.
  • Possess the ability to drag 125 lbs. 30 feet in 30 seconds.
  • Frequent near and far acuity, depth perception, focal length change, color vision, and peripheral vision.
  • Possible exposure to inclement weather conditions and hazardous traffic and or driving conditions.
  • Exposure to noise levels ranging from moderate to very loud.
  • Working closely with children can be physically and emotionally demanding.
School Custodian

Job Title: School Custodian

Job Summary: Provide a clean and safe environment for the school's students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform all general cleaning duties, including sweeping, scrubbing, washing, polishing floors, vacuuming rugs and carpets, and cleaning and dusting walls, furniture, woodwork, and other surfaces.
  • Pick up paper and other refuse on grounds, sweep walkways and building entrances.
  • Wash, scrub and disinfect rest rooms.
  • Clean windows, door glass, drinking fountains, sinks, window sills, and blinds.
  • Empty and clean waste containers, replace light bulbs.
  • Assist in moving and rearranging chairs, tables, desks, furniture and other fixtures and equipment.
  • Set up & clean up cafeteria as required.
  • Perform minor maintenance and repair of custodial equipment.
  • Correct and/or report safety, sanitary and fire hazards when observed.
