ROLE PURPOSE

The Payroll Clerk supports the accurate and timely processing of payroll for Azure Standard employees. This role performs detailed administrative and data support functions that ensure hours, pay, and employee records are correctly captured and processed. The Payroll Clerk works closely with the payroll team, Employee Services, and Finance to uphold Azure’s commitment to accuracy, compliance, and care for our people.

This is a detail-driven, service-oriented role for someone who values precision, confidentiality, and being part of a team that serves the backbone of the organization, our employees.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Payroll Processing Support
  • Enter, verify, and audit employee timecards, pay codes, and payroll data.
  • Support preparation of payroll runs (hourly, salaried, multiple shifts and locations).
  • Review reports to identify missing punches, discrepancies, and errors.
  • Assist with processing overtime, PTO, holiday pay, shift differentials, and special payments.
  • Prepare supporting documentation for payroll approvals.
Recordkeeping & Data Management
  • Maintain accurate payroll and employee pay records.
  • Process new hire entries, terminations, job changes, pay updates, and deductions.
  • File payroll documentation in accordance with audit and retention standards.
  • Support year-end activities including W-2 preparation and audit requests.
Employee Support
  • Assist in responding to employee payroll questions in a professional and respectful manner.
  • Help research and resolve paycheck discrepancies.
  • Direct complex issues to the Payroll Administrator or Payroll Manager.
Compliance & Quality Control
  • Follow established payroll procedures, internal controls, and confidentiality standards.
  • Assist with audits, workers’ compensation requests, unemployment filings, and reporting needs.
  • Support compliance with wage and hour requirements and company policies.
Team & Process Support
  • Support payroll documentation, SOPs, and training materials.
  • Participate in process improvement efforts and system updates.
  • Provide backup support to other payroll team functions as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements QUALIFICATIONS Required
  • 1–3 years of payroll experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and high standards of accuracy.
  • Basic understanding of payroll processes, timekeeping, and confidentiality practices.
  • Comfort working in payroll and HR systems.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet recurring deadlines.
  • Professional, respectful, and service-oriented communication style.
Preferred
  • Experience in hourly, multi-shift, or manufacturing/warehouse environments.
  • Coursework or certification in payroll, accounting, or business.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
  • Experience with HRIS, payroll, or timekeeping platforms.
