District Staff Assistant​/Press Assistant

The Office of Congresswoman Janelle Bynum is seeking a District Staff Assistant/Press Assistant
. This dual role supports both administrative operations and communications activities in the district office, offering an opportunity to serve constituents while advancing the Member’s public engagement.

• Greet and screen visitors at the district office.
• Handle incoming calls with professionalism and capture constituent input for policy consideration.
• Draft memos, speeches, video scripts, newsletters, surveys, and social media content.
• Staff the Congresswoman for interviews and district events.
• Assist with planning and executing district events such as town halls and round tables.
• Develop and implement media and communications strategies for the Member.
• Drive the Member to events and staff events as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree or related job experience.
• Demonstrated interest in public service.
• Familiarity with Oregon’s 5th Congressional District and knowledge of current local issues.
• Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
• Strong oral communication skills.
• Understanding of print and broadcast media.
• Ability to work well under pressure and courteously with others.

Rate: Average $25-$30/hour
