The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office Corrections Team is looking for a Corrections Health Office Assistant to provide assistance to the medical team in our County Jail. This person will perform a wide variety of reception and secretarial duties primarily in Corrections Health. Act as HIPAA Compliance Officer, answers telephones, compile reports, type and enter data using various computer programs.
$25.03 - $33.64 per hour*

Lincoln County Jail in Newport
General Office- Perform data entry and prepare written correspondence, reports, and other documents.
- Design and format forms using multiple computer programs, including those specific to medical operations.
- Inventory, order, and track medical supplies; verify accuracy of delivered items.
- Maintain and clean medical equipment.
- Follow vaccine refrigerator protocols and submit monthly vaccine reports (MVR).
- Pick up prescriptions at local pharmacies and deliver or retrieve laboratory specimens as needed.
- Archive medical information in accordance with records retention schedules.
- Communicate with medical facilities to obtain confidential records and ensure continuity of care.
- Transfer confidential medical records to authorized requesting agencies.
- Maintain secure access and organization of all medical records.
- Serve the Corrections Health Office HIPAA Compliance Officer.
- Research billable services and prepare client invoices for medical costs.
- Verify accuracy of invoices from outside providers and prepare payment vouchers for Lincoln County Finance.
- Prepare vouchers for payment to contracted entities approved by Lincoln County.
- Submit reimbursement claims to the Department of Revenue (DOR) for Lincoln County Jail medical collections.
- Serve as receptionist for medical services and for the jail as scheduled; process and distribute incoming mail.
- Prepare and distribute minutes for monthly and quarterly Correction Health meetings.
- Assist team members with various tasks and provide support to ensure smooth office operations; work overtime when required.
EDUCATION
High School diploma or GED supplemented by secretarial and computer training.
EXPERIENCE
Four years of progressively responsible clerical and secretarial experience.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
- Oregon Driver's License required within 30 days of hire.
- Must maintain annual CPR/First Aid certification.
Knowledge of/Ability to:
- Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA).
- PREA (Prison Rape Elimination Act) including compliance.
- HIPAA policies and procedures.
- Varied computer systems, secretarial procedures, record keeping, and reporting requirements.
- Maintain confidentiality of records and information.
- Comprehend and interpret laws, rules, and regulations.
