About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Structural Steel Drafter to support the delivery of commercial structural steel projects. The role will focus on producing accurate 3D models, fabrication drawings and shop drawings using Tekla Structures.

The ideal candidate will have experience working for a structural steel fabricator or contractor and understand the full process from design documentation through to fabrication and site installation.
Previous experience assisting with structural steel estimating, material take-offs or tender pricing would be highly regarded.

Key Responsibilities

• Review structural drawings, specifications and project documentation.
• Create detailed 3D structural steel models using Tekla Structures.
• Produce shop drawings, fabrication drawings, assembly drawings and erection plans.
• Detail steel members, connections, plates, bolts and welds.
• Prepare material lists, cutting lists and fabrication reports.
• Coordinate with engineers, project managers, fabricators and site teams.
• Identify design issues, prepare RFIs and update drawings following revisions.
• Assist with material take-offs, steel tonnage and tender estimating.

Experience and Skills

• Experience drafting and detailing commercial structural steel projects.
• Strong working knowledge of Tekla Structures.
• Understanding of steel fabrication, connections, welding and erection.
• Ability to interpret structural and architectural drawings.
• Experience with quantity take-offs or structural steel estimating is preferred.
• Steel fabricator or structural steel contractor experience is highly regarded.
