Job Summary
Bethany High School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Long Term High School Biology Substitute Teacher to join our academic team. This full‑time position involves delivering high‑quality instruction in biology to high school students while fostering a positive and engaging learning environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for science education, a commitment to student success, and the ability to adapt to various classroom situations.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement lesson plans that align with the curriculum and state standards for high school biology.
- Deliver engaging and interactive lectures, demonstrations, and laboratory activities to enhance student understanding of biological concepts.
- Assess and evaluate student performance through assignments, tests, and projects, providing constructive feedback to support their learning.
- Maintain a positive classroom environment that encourages student participation, collaboration, and respect.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding student progress and any classroom concerns.
- Collaborate with other faculty members to integrate interdisciplinary approaches and support students’ overall educational experience.
- Attend faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and school events as required.
- Manage classroom behavior and implement school policies to ensure a safe and productive learning environment.
- Adapt teaching methods and materials to accommodate diverse learning styles and needs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Education, or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification or license in secondary education with a focus on biology preferred.
- Strong knowledge of biological concepts and the ability to convey complex information in an accessible manner.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficient in using technology and educational software to enhance instruction.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with educational best practices.
