Education Coach

Supporting the growth of healthy children and families, positive parenting, and school readiness.

PURPOSE
:
To support the Agency’s mission by providing targeted coaching to classroom staff so that they can deliver quality educational services to children and families.

Essential Functions
  • Provide individual staff support utilizing Practice‑Based Coaching
  • Provide staff with guidance on choosing developmentally appropriate activities for children
  • Model age‑appropriate and constructive ways to work with young children
  • Provide group coaching through the Teachers Learning and Collaborating model
  • Create and facilitate Early Childhood Education (ECE) trainings for classroom staff
  • Create and implement a plan for using videotaping as an effective coaching tool
  • Utilize classroom and staff data to establish coaching goals
  • Actively participate in creating, reviewing, and updating annual Coaching Plan
  • Assist Educational Services Director in ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations
  • Maintain complete and accurate records of coaching services, actions, goals, and outcomes

  • Arrive to work on time; punctually attend and actively participate in all required activities, meetings, and trainings.
  • Be a respectful, cooperative, and reliable team member and participant in program activities.
  • Project a professional work image, both in dress and manner.
  • Be familiar with, and adhere to, position‑related policies and procedures as well as the program’s overarching objectives.
  • Follow Agency policy/procedures for reporting and documenting suspected child abuse and/or neglect.
Code Of Conduct

Perform all work in compliance with the Clackamas County Children’s Commission Code of Conduct.

Confidentiality

Respect and maintain confidentiality of information regarding enrolled children and families, personnel issues, and other program operations as appropriate.

Training

In consultation with supervisor, develop professional work goals and training plan. Participate in training as requested.

Working Conditions
  • Classroom/playground environment with physically active three to five year old children
  • Some bending, stooping, kneeling, and sitting on the floor
  • Moderate computer usage

Requirements

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or related field
  • Two years of teaching or coaching experience in ECE
  • Knowledge of Early Childhood Development Theory
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles
  • Knowledge of Head Start and Head Start Child Outcomes Framework preferred
Skills And Abilities
  • Ability to create and maintain positive, supportive relationships.
  • Ability to effectively communicate information, objectives, and goals.
  • Ability to effectively analyze data and draw appropriate conclusions.
  • Intermediate computer skills; working knowledge of MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to positively interact with families of various cultural and socio‑economic backgrounds.
  • Ability to possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and insured vehicle available for use on the job (or have alternative transportation).
  • Ability to possess and maintain compliance with State of Oregon Criminal Background Registry.
  • Ability to possess and maintain current First Aid/CPR certification.
