ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Hold appropriate Oregon administrative license.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead relationally in a manner that builds culture.
  • Instructional leader who uses research-based best practices in professional development, literacy, professional learning communities, coaching, grading and assessment, etc.
  • In-depth knowledge of Oregon’s teaching and learning standards, current state initiatives, graduation requirements, IDEA, TAG, ESL, and CTE programs.
  • Knowledge of and successful experience with effective high (middle) school practices, instructional improvement/evaluation, classroom management, team management, issues in technology and organizational change.
  • Knowledge of and experience working with students and promotion of equity for all students
  • Strong communication skills that establish positive, collaborative working relationships with and among students, staff, parents and the community.
  • Ability to lead school improvement efforts that produce high achievement results and college and career readiness, with special focus on underserved student populations.
  • Demonstrated success in developing practices that support individual student social-emotional needs and systems that promote school-wide support and care for students beyond their academic pursuits.
  • Effective management of school operations to support teaching and learning.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Three plus year’s successful administrative experience; secondary experience desired.
  • Successful high school teaching and administrative experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership that yields high levels of trust within the team of adults and grows the team’s sense of collective purpose and social capital.
  • Ability to balance professional autonomy for staff and consistent vision and expectations.
  • Ability to create a positive, safe school climate where high expectations for learning and adolescent development are valued.
  • Expertise in personnel selection, management, evaluation and staff development.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Implement Board policies and administrative rules and regulations.
  • Maintain student, faculty, and parent committees as necessary to assure communication among school and community groups and provide a systematic avenue for the discussion of school programs, practices, and policies.
  • Keep students, teachers, and parents informed of decisions; thereby gaining increased understanding and support in all areas of the school program.
  • Establish and maintain a systematic plan for keeping of student’s records on attendance, promotion, and other matters as required.
  • Devise plans and execute training programs that assure safe conduct of students and staff for fire, earthquake, and /or emergencies.
  • Keep the Superintendent informed of the school’s activities and/or issues.
  • Take all reasonable precautions to safeguard the health, safety, and general welfare of staff and students.
  • Take emergency measures in the event of injury and report such injuries to superiors, as well as proper authorities.
  • Take appropriate actions as required to increase student safety and to protect citizens and their property.
  • Prepare and submit the school’s budgetary requests and monitor expenditures of funds.
  • Provide for the establishment of guidelines for proper student conduct and discipline.
  • Work with the administrative staff on school issues that support schools, students, staff and activities such as transportation, special services and support services.
  • Participate in appropriate District meetings as may be requested.
  • Keep abreast of changes and developments in the profession by attending professional meetings, reading professional journals and other publications, and discussing problems of mutual interest with others in the field.
  • Assure that in your absence another District administrator is designated to be in charge of the school.
  • INSTRUCTIONAL PROGRAM
  • Establish and maintain an effective learning climate in the school.
  • Be responsible for the detailed organization of the school and for the assignment of duties to the members of professional and non-licensed staff.
