$6,536.57 - $12,634.43 (For one period per day) based on education and experience

The Position

The Lowell School District seeks an outstanding, highly qualified advanced math teacher for Lowell High School. This position is one period per day, with approximately three days per week remote teaching and one day per week in-person teaching. The schedule will be developed in partnership with administration.

Position Summary

The Lowell School District is a progressive, student-centered district with goals to improve opportunities for students in math, science and engineering. The advanced math position includes teaching one period per day. The chosen candidate will have certification to teach advanced mathematics.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
  • The teacher plans for student success based on assessed needs of individual students and the use of data to determine each student’s current knowledge and skill level, set learning goals, and assess progress.
  • The teacher works collaboratively in a professional learning community with other teachers, support staff, and multidisciplinary teams to address student needs and develop effective practices.
  • The teacher regularly conducts lesson planning consistent with school/district curriculum and instructional practice.
  • The teacher maintains and provides grading, progress monitoring, and evaluation consistent with policy, and communicates information to students and parents.
  • The teacher integrates district-approved technology into planning, learning, progress reporting, and required record‑keeping activities.
  • The teacher creates, communicates, and maintains classroom management practices that engage students.
  • The teacher facilitates or participates in IEP team meetings at least annually to review student progress.
  • The teacher facilitates or participates in IEP team meetings every three years to reevaluate students with disabilities.
  • The teacher designs and implements record‑keeping and communication procedures to keep confidential information secure.
  • The teacher provides training and ongoing support to assigned support staff within the classroom or program.
  • The teacher actively participates in staff, academic, child study, in‑service, and curriculum meetings.
  • The teacher observes student needs and engages appropriate staff when necessary.
  • The teacher establishes a professional growth plan and reviews it annually with the administrator.
  • The teacher performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Have an Oregon Teaching License to teach advanced math in grades 7-12.
  • Collaboratively plan and implement an effective, evidence‑based program aligned with other grades, Common Core State Standards, and district goals.
  • Provide instruction and guide student learning toward achievement of clearly identified objectives.
  • Assess student learning and adjust instruction regularly to meet demonstrated needs.
  • Be able to model the Smarter Balanced summative assessment.
  • Maintain a classroom environment conducive to student learning.
  • Have high expectations for students academically, behaviorally, and individually.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills among administration, staff, parents, students, and the community.
  • Have knowledge of the role of the classroom teacher in executing individual student plans including IEPs and 504s.
  • Be organized and flexible.
  • Maintain an ongoing personal program of professional growth and development.
