Salary Range: $20.16 - $25.65 (Classification D3)

POSITION SUMMARY:
Performs a variety of instructional, training, and/or support duties to assist the special education teachers in instruction, supervision, and education of students with severe physical and mental special needs the generally require placement in self-contained classrooms. May also be assigned in one-on-one teacher-to-student situations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Obtained an associate's degree or higher; or meet a rigorous standard of quality and can demonstrate through a formal state or local academic assessment the knowledge of and the ability to assist in the instruction of reading, writing and mathematics or the instruction in readiness for these subjects.
- Fingerprint-based criminal history verification clearance.
- Paraprofessional Assessment Certificate of Completion, or ability to obtain through district program.
- Basic principles and practices of instructional program within area of assignment. Proper childcare techniques.
- Techniques and methods of student supervision and classroom management.
- English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation, basic bookkeeping, as required of specific assignment.
- Modern office methods, practices, procedures and computer equipment.
- May be required to obtain a First Aid Card.
