Job Description:

We are currently looking for an experienced Cost Manager (CM) to join our team. The Cost Manager provides technical expert advice to the client (e.g., estimating, cost planning, change management) at an advanced level and carries full responsibility for process or project technical solutions.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Carry full responsibility for preparation of cost estimates, cost models and quantity take-offs at all stages of design and project development.
  • Review and reconcile change orders and contractor proposals for compliance, accuracy and scope alignment.
  • Analyze production specifications, capacity data, and market trends to inform resource planning and project costing strategies.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and contract documents for consistency and compliance with budget and client expectations.
  • Provide oversight and QA/QC for cost-related deliverables, ensuring quality and alignment with internal standards and client requirements.
  • Support SBI Advisory solutions – including claims analysis, due diligence, feasibility studies, and risk assessments – by quantifying cost impacts and providing direction to the client on the project status prior to major financial decisions.
  • Monitor and manage budgets, develop reporting tools and track cost performance against established baselines.
  • Coordinate preparation and delivery of project design documents, bid packages and procurement strategies with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Communicate proactively with clients, contractors, subcontractors and consultants to support transparency, cost clarity and issue resolution.
  • May supervise or mentor Project Engineers and Estimators as assigned, including task coordination and informal training.
  • Maintain and update SBI historical cost databases with relevant project data to support future estimating accuracy.
  • Participate in value engineering exercises and support alternate means-and-methods analysis to reduce cost while maintaining scope.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or Construction Management from an accredited university, and 6 to 10 years of progressive, relevant industry experience with direct responsibility on large-scale, complex projects. Must have strong understanding of construction means and methods, project delivery phases, and cost benchmarking. Experience managing a technical process on a large project, or managing a small project independently, is required.

Experience in all stages of the project lifecycle—from conceptual estimating through project close-out—is essential.

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, CAD or other Building Modeling & Design Applications, Project Management, Scheduling, Estimating software. Must have full understanding of ERP modules related to construction management, with knowledge of integration solutions and troubleshooting.

Certified Cost Professional (CCP), Certified Estimating Professional (CEP), EIT, PE, PMP are desirable.

Compensation

Salary range: $105,000 – $155,000 annually plus Performance Bonus & Profit Sharing Bonus. Compensation will be commensurate with individual education, qualifications, experience, skills and work location.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, use hands to operate telephone, type and operate computer and mouse, talk, hear, bend and twist neck.
